"The best piece of advice that I've received to manage my MS is to take care of myself."
Nancy — MS LifeLines® Nurse Specialist
Nancy says she felt compelled to enter nursing when she saw the compassion of nurses who cared for her ailing grandmother. Nancy not only has a degree in nursing, but in education, as well. She now combines the best of these two academic worlds, helping patients learn about relapsing MS and manage their Rebif® (interferon beta 1-a) therapy.
Nancy knows her job is critical in helping MS patients manage their lives. "I have a number of patients that I talk with who let me know that I make a difference," she says. "Being told by patients that I make a difference on a daily basis puts a smile on my face and makes me feel I am here for a good reason. They, in turn, have impacted my life. I look forward to calling them!"
Nancy wants relapsing MS patients taking Rebif to know that the MS LifeLines call center nurses are there for them, to help them learn about MS, to let them know about additional resources and to make sure they know they are not alone. "They should call – no question is dumb or stupid!" Nancy always asks her patients if they would like to be called again, "which we gladly do with pleasure."
Her most important advice for people living with MS is simple: Keep your doctor involved in your treatment and informed about how you're feeling.
Call MS LifeLines for support anytime, and stay on Rebif!
