Keeping a Healthy Balance

Life is full of challenges. We all work to juggle various aspects of our life - our families, our social life, our health and our careers. On any given day, there’s a lot to keep track of and it takes balance to keep it all in perspective.

When you think about juggling your career and the other aspects of your life, keep a few things in mind. It can be easy to become overwhelmed with all of your work/life demands. But remember to reach out to those around you and let them know how you’re doing. Also, make sure they know how they can help you. Be specific, open and honest about what they can do to help you. Perhaps it’s carrying the laundry basket upstairs, or picking up a few things at the store for you, or driving the kids to school 2 days a week. Whatever it is, big or small, let your friends and family know, they want to be there for you.

Most importantly, make a personal commitment to yourself to take time to keep a healthy balance in your life. Make it a priority. Try a few of these things today.

  • 1.Take 5 minutes to do absolutely nothing. In fact, just sit back and close your eyes and take some deep breaths.
  • 2.Start each day at work with your “to do” list. It might help you to keep things in perspective.
  • 3.Make time for you. Whether you’re at work or spending time with your family, at the end of each week, ask yourself if you’ve carved out enough “me” time. If not, stop what you’re doing and make it a priority.
